The Britannia Historical Society, the governing body of the British Columbia Museum of Mining, is a non-profit society. The society was established in 1971 to preserve the material and social history of mining in British Columbia, and to educate the public about mining. It is a registered charity.

The Society is essentially self-sufficient in its ability to earn revenues to maintain its operation. Government grants are a welcome addition to ensure we reach our mandate and go beyond basic operation and account for only 14% of our budget.

The Britannia Beach Historical Society acknowledges with gratitude the support of the BC Arts Council plus many patrons, donors and members. Our partnership with the Mineral Resources Education Program of BC greatly enhances our Education Services role
