THE FUTURE | The Lime Tank Following the success of our Mill rehabilitation, we are continuing to preserve the Britannia Story by working on our Lime Tank. We need your help to do this! Now that the Mill has new windows and walls, we are turning our attention to this unusual building. Built around 1940, the Lime Tank was important in the mining operations. It mixed lime and water to make a slurry that was used to reduce the mine's water acidity. Lime was used in the Mill, but slurry from this tank may have been used instead to reduce the acidity of water flowing into the Howe Sound. If so, it was an early and important example of environmental protection. We are currently researching into just how it was used. Please help us restore this unique piece of the Britannia story. With your dollars - big or small - we can preserve it for decades to come. Please donate now. Donations over $25 are tax deductible. Thank you.
